Newsletter

The Sabine Baring-Gould Appreciation Society Newsletter was started by David Shacklock in 1989. Over the years it has carried a number of short but interesting original articles by people who knew Sabine Baring-Gould or had special knowledge of him. It also contains a number of reprints of articles published by Baring-Gould himself and some useful information about other publications by or about Baring-Gould. I have found it very rewarding to look back at the wealth of information that is gathered in these Newsletters and I would like to recognise the efforts of my fellow contributors. But I would particularly like to thank and applaud the Editors who have cajoled and encouraged us over the years: Keith Lister, Becky Smith, Ron Wawman, Roger Bristow and, of course, the inspiration and founder of the Society and of its Newsletter – David Shacklock.

Our goal is to present a complete run of SBGAS Newsletters more than three years old on this page and the Newsletters from 1989 to 2014 are in the process of being added to this page. Lists of the articles are given for each year or series but there is an  ‘Index to the Newsletters 1989 – 2014’ that was prepared by Colin White for the 2014 SBGAS Transactions which you may find of value. Click HERE.

The more recent issues have been presented as PDF files of the whole magazine. Select the year you are interested in and you will be taken to a new page with and index to all the articles in the three issues published in that year. A slightly different approach has been necessary for the issues published between 1989 and 1999 as they were produced in a different way. For these you will be presented with a single page for each series which contains all of the articles for the issues in that series.
